What is the last date for registration for this event?
A.
The last date to register for the event is 30th September, 2020 12:00 pm. No more responses will be accepted after that.

What if I am completely new to coding? Can I still participate?
A.
Absolutely, everyone is a beginner once in their life and this is the chance to actually begin your journey into coding. If not now then when? You will be provided with beginner friendly resources at every step to ensure you can make the project successfully. All we ask is your time and willingness to learn !


Q.
What are the prerequisites for a project?
A.
The projects do not have major prerequisites as such. Basic knowledge of the language and some basic requirements for your PC is all that are required. You will be emailed all the resources to get through with these with ease. Still, in case of doubts, they will be cleared early on in the event.


Q.
What should I do if I am allotted a project based in a language I do not know?
A.
We will be providing you with the tutorial links to learn the basics of the language which will be needed to make the project. There will also be a “Getting Started” session in the beginning to help you feel comfortable. Feel free to build the project in any language of your choice. If a time comes where we might use language specific libraries, you have the option to explore for the similar library in your language.

I know language X but the difficulty of the project is high for me to pursue it, what should I do?
A.
If you do not feel confident about your knowledge in language X, we suggest that you should prefer a project according to the difficulty level you can manage, if you do not know the language refer to the above question. Also if you know one language, it is not that difficult to explore another one, and knowing more is no harm anyways, right?

What is Hacktoberfest?
A.
Hacktoberfest is a month-long celebration of open source software run by DigitalOcean in partnership with GitHub. Hacktoberfest is open to everyone in the global community! Five quality pull requests must be submitted to public GitHub repositories. You can sign up anytime between October 1 and October 31. On completion you get many perks up for grabs.

How will HacktoberFest goals be achieved?

Each project will have a repository and you can create a folder by your name there. Every 2 days, you can create a Pull Request on the repository. Over a period of 10 days, you can create 5 PRs with genuine code and thereby complete HacktoberFest 2020.
